Injury Rehabilitation
What is injury rehabilitation
Injury rehabilitation involves taking a detailed history of your injury, including when you did it, how, and the limitations it is causing you. I will then assess your function, mobility and strength to build your programme. To maximise your recovery the programme will be tailored to your individual goals and what you want to return to, it will include mobility and strengthening exercises and functional skills where appropriate.
The benefits of a rehabilitation programme are:
-
Restore function
-
Reduce pain and inflammation
-
Maintain cardiovascular fitness
-
Strengthen weakened muscles
-
Minimise risk of future injuries
-
Improve flexibility and coordination

Why me?
I was an Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor with the Ministry of Defence for 7 years and had the pleasure of working with a huge range of people. I helped to rehabilitate everyday injuries such as ankle sprains and lower back pain as well as post-operative patients. I also had the opportunity to work in a Complex Trauma Department rehabilitating those with spinal cord injuries, amputations and poly-trauma. This was a fantastic opportunity and forced me to think a little outside of the box as you don’t really get taught that type of rehabilitation at university. These patients taught me to consider everything about the person, not just the injury, when creating a programme. This is something I have continued to do, and I aim for my programmes not to feel like rehab, instead they should feel like a workout that challenges your whole body in a positive way.
